Educational design that reveals potential

We design schools, universities, libraries, learning centres and campuses. We create comfortable and functional environments that unlock potential and motivate learning and development.

Learning centres and campuses

New standards for educational environments (and beyond)

The role of educational interior design is as broad as that of the institutions themselves. These are places where knowledge and ideas emerge, connections are built, and vision takes shape. We recognise this influence and design learning centres informed by global expertise — aiming to enhance learning quality, engagement and brand strength.

service-sketch
  • Each interior is developed individually.
  • We always meet the agreed deadlines*
  • We uphold the highest quality standards using Revit, a streamlined workflow, and a reliable network of partners and suppliers.
  • We deliver projects across Russia and abroad.

*Since 2016, we have never missed a contractual deadline.

How the process works

Our studio manages every stage of educational centre and campus design projects.

01

Researching needs and objectives

The foundation of every project. We’ll meet with you to discuss your design brief, define objectives, and prepare a proposal.

from 1 day*
02

Architectural analysis

This process involves two stages: defining the technical specifications and developing the layout

Technical specification

We analyze the project concept and organizational objectives. We establish spatial boundaries, identify structural and technical constraints, determine occupancy and functional requirements, and map out the departments the space must accommodate. We also develop visual references and document all design criteria.

from 3 days*

Layout design

The spatial layout is developed according to the organizational structure and user interaction scenarios. This stage covers zoning and the arrangement of furniture and equipment, resulting in detailed Revit drawings and axonometric diagrams.

from 1 week*

from 1.5 weeks*
03

Concept

We develop the core concept of the space by creating a mood board, defining stylistic and color solutions, preparing ceiling, flooring, and lighting plans, and producing a material sample board accompanied by photorealistic 3D visualizations in 3ds Max.

from 3 weeks*
04

Working documentation

Detailed preparation of drawings for precise project execution. The final output is a complete working documentation package with visualizations, delivered digitally and in print, including:

A list of Architectural Interiors (AI) section drawings and a measured plan with engineering reference points.

Layout solutions, including demolition plans, new partition layouts and specifications, MEP equipment layouts, door layouts, furniture plans, plumbing layouts, and related elements.

Finishing solutions;

Electrical and lighting solutions;

Technical specifications for furniture and custom-made elements;

Schedules and specifications.

from 3 weeks*
05

Furnishing and design supervision (optional)

Managing the procurement of finishes, furniture, and equipment. We coordinate contractors and suppliers, oversee tenders, and suggest alternatives to specified items when needed.

We work closely with contractors handling construction, engineering, furniture, and materials to ensure the design is executed as intended. We answer questions, visit the site, and check that everything matches the concept, keeping a clear record of any changes along the way.

Monthly throughout construction*

*Timelines vary depending on the area and project specifics. Exact dates will be set after the initial meeting with our studio managers.

Cost assessment

The cost is calculated individually for each project and depends on several factors:

01

Location of the site

02

Project timeline – the more urgent, the higher the cost

03

Size of the space – larger areas reduce the cost per square metre

04

Availability of existing drawings and measurements – if none exist, we carry out laser measurements.

05

The studio work stages included

The exact cost and timeline will be provided in a detailed proposal following an introductory meeting

Timelines vary depending on the size of the space and whether measurements are available. On average:

For spaces up to 700 m²:

architectural analysis – 7 days

concept development – 20 days

working documentation – 20 days

For spaces from 1,500 to 2,500 m²:

architectural analysis – 10 days

concept development – 20 days

working documentation – 33 days

For spaces over 5,500 m²

timelines are determined individually

Frequently Asked Questions

01

Is partial development of a school or university design project possible?

It depends on which stages you wish to exclude. For instance, we can prepare a design concept based on an existing layout, but first we’ll verify compliance with regulations and carry out an architectural analysis.

You can order just the architectural analysis and design concept. However, if you skip the working documentation and have it prepared by others, there’s a risk the final interior may deviate from the original concept, since 3D visualizations alone are not sufficient. For this reason, we do not produce documentation for third-party concepts.

02

Can implementation begin before full approval of the educational design project?

At Designic, we recommend a structured process: construction should start only after the architectural analysis, approval of the educational space design concept, and confirmation of all drawings. In some cases, installation work may begin during the final documentation stage, but this should be discussed in advance to ensure proper planning.

03

How long does it take to implement a design project after documentation approval?

The average implementation time for an educational project is 3–4 months from documentation approval, depending on procurement speed, construction and engineering adjustments.

Note: implementation is managed by the contractor selected by the client. Our studio team can participate through procurement and design supervision — see “How the process works” for details.

04

What if there are strict budget constraints for educational spaces?

It’s important to mention budget limits during the first meeting with our studio manager so we can consider them at the concept stage. If this information emerges later, substitutions for materials or furniture may be necessary, potentially leading to major deviations from the original design.

05

How can I be sure the educational design project will meet my expectations?

At the start, we prepare a detailed technical brief outlining spatial characteristics, functions, intended users, visual references and key values. Our designers refer to this document throughout the entire design process.

We approve every stage with you and remain open to adjustments. We also create visualisations so you can clearly see the future space. To ensure accurate realisation, we prepare detailed working documentation, coordinate with your engineers and builders, and offer procurement and design supervision services after approval.

06

What documents should I prepare before starting work?

To determine project timing and cost, we’ll need details on the location, type and size of the space, your objectives, and whether plans, drawings, measurements and brandbook are available.

At the technical brief stage for learning centre design, we’ll ask you to share brand materials, internal structure, teaching methodology, a list of functional zones and visual references.

The list of materials may expand depending on project specifics. Our manager or designer will assist you as needed.
